Summit Search Group is seeking a driven Site Superintendent for their client in Winnipeg. The Site Superintendent (SS) plays a crucial role in the construction project team, driving activities forward and ensuring seamless execution on-site.
The Position:
With high levels of construction expertise, the Site Superintendent may undertake various roles such as Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Estimator, or Foreman, depending on project size and complexity. They mentor junior staff and oversee on-site supervision, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to client quality standards. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is key, with a focus on achieving project success and enhancing client satisfaction.
Job responsibilities:
- Supervision and Management: Overseeing all on-site construction activities, including scheduling, coordination, and supervision of subcontractors, vendors, and laborers to ensure efficient project execution.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe work environment for all personnel on-site.
- Quality Control: Monitoring work quality and adherence to project specifications, codes, and standards, and addressing any deficiencies or non-compliance issues promptly.
- Schedule Management: Managing project schedules, coordinating tasks, and ensuring work progresses according to the project timeline and milestones.
- Budget Oversight: Assisting in the management of project budgets, tracking expenses, and minimizing costs while maintaining quality standards and meeting project goals.
- Communication: Serving as the primary point of contact on-site for project stakeholders, including clients, project managers, and subcontractors, and facilitating effective communication to address issues and resolve conflicts.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and safety records, to track project activities and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Problem-Solving: Identifying potential issues or risks on-site and implementing proactive solutions to minimize disruptions and keep the project on track.
- Client Relations: Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients by addressing concerns, providing progress updates, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the construction process.
- Team Leadership: Providing leadership and guidance to on-site personnel, including mentoring and coaching junior staff, to foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Inspections and Approvals: Coordinating inspections with regulatory authorities and obtaining necessary permits and approvals to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Site Logistics: Managing site logistics, including material deliveries, equipment mobilization, and site access, to optimize efficiency and minimize disruptions to ongoing construction activities.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the construction industry, with progressively responsible roles in site supervision and management.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials, as well as understanding of building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Strong leadership abilities to effectively manage and supervise on-site personnel, including subcontractors, vendors, and laborers, to ensure project success.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with project stakeholders, including clients, project managers, and team members, and to address issues and resolve conflicts.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address challenges and obstacles on-site, make timely decisions, and implement effective solutions to keep the project on track.
