Role Overview:
As a Senior Actuarial Analyst, you will be responsible for researching, gathering and compiling statistical data and developing reports that facilitate and support actuarial and cross team processes. The individual will support in the drafting of policies, forms, rate manuals and other changes to ensure compliance with insurance regulations, statutes and company goals. These activities support business decision making. The Senior Actuarial Analyst collaborates with senior leaders and colleagues to ensure objectives are achieved in a manner consistent with company values.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the drafting of policies, forms, rate manuals and other changes to ensure compliance with insurance regulations, statutes and company goals.
- Facilitates in the development of new insurance products utilizing statistical data analysis.
- Organizes data and creates reports and analysis to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Provides data driven insights to support underwriting decision making.
- Assists with ad-hoc requests and analysis.
- Performs annual rate making indications and segmentation analysis.
- Effectively utilizes the company’s policy admin and claims systems and their underlying data structures.
- Collaborates on developing Pricing proposals and preparing materials to present to company stakeholders.
- Gathers and compiles statistical data via Excel, R or data management programs for the purposes of developing reports to facilitate and support pricing, reinsurance reporting and valuation function.
Experience
- Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years direct experience with actuarial analysis.
- Pricing experience in auto or property is preferred
- A developing programming experience (SQL, Python, R) is required.
- Preferred that candidates have the ability to use SQL queries to obtain data required for analysis from the company’s systems.
- Strong experience with industry pricing and financial analysis software preferred.
- Strong MS Excel skills is required.
- Knowledge and experience using MS Office applications is required.
- Candidates must have the ability to objectively identify patterns and trends in information and be able to link them to business drivers.
- Consistency of applying accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail approaches.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or in a related field is required.
- Actively pursuing the CIA and CAS Associate designation with at least three successful exam attempts preferred.
