Ranch Manager
Summit Search Group is partnered with a ranching operation in Peace River Region who are seeking an experienced Ranch Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of approximately 1,000 bison and cattle and 26,000 acres.
This role offers a rare opportunity to take full ownership of day-to-day operations with strategic support by ownership. The Ranch Manager will lead a small team, balance hands-on work with organizational and financial oversight, and ensure efficient, sustainable ranch management. This opportunity offers both autonomy and stability in a well-established ranching operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily ranch operations including overseeing livestock care, nutrition, feeding, and finishing programs.
- Manage grazing rotations, feed sourcing, and land use across a large operation.
- Lead, train, and supervise a small core team plus seasonal staff.
- Balance hands-on ranch work with budgeting, purchasing, and supplier relations.
- Coordinate maintenance of equipment, fencing, and infrastructure.
What We’re Looking For
- Diploma or degree in Agriculture/Animal Science or related field.
- 5+ years in livestock or ranch management with leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of animal health, nutrition, and feed programs (bison or cattle).
- Practical, hands-on leadership style with strong problem-solving skills.
- Financial awareness and ability to oversee budgets and expenses.
Remuneration
The successful candidate will receive strong leadership transition support in addition to work-life balance with structured weekday schedule and light weekend duties.
