Human Resources Director
Summit Search Group has partnered with an industrial distributor, established over 70 years, an organization that has been built on a foundation of trust and respect. With recent acquisitions and anticipated future growth, we’re seeking a Human Resources Director in Calgary to lead the organization across 5 provinces.
The successful candidate will lead by example, possess strong organizational skills, professional judgment, excellent communication abilities, and can lead the Human Resources function with empathy and integrity while managing sensitive information and fostering a positive work culture.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement customized human resources strategies that align with organizational goals and industry best practices.
- Drive strategic initiatives for employee engagement, talent development, and succession planning.
- Provide comprehensive human resources services across recruitment and onboarding support, payroll and group benefits administration, performance management, employee relations, employee engagement, compensation reviews, and continuous improvement of policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations providing proactive updates and solutions.
- Act as an employee champion and change agent by anticipating human resources related needs and delivering value-added services.
- Conduct stay interviews, exit interviews, and other initiatives to improve employee retention and satisfaction.
- Offer training and support for human resources tools and various programs company provides ensuring maximization of technology investments.
- Support through organizational changes, including acquisitions, terminations, and culture development.
- Collaborate with internal teams to enhance human resources services.
- Act as a resource for best practices in human resources, staying informed of trends and legal updates to ensure company success.
- Develop strategies to improve employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention.
- Conduct employee surveys, gathering feedback to assess and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business administration; master’s degree preferred.
- CPHR designation completed or working towards completion preferred.
- Strong leadership with 7+ years human resources management experience.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce payroll program is needed.
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws, HR practices, and compliance across AB, BC, ON MB & SK.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic HR initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management abilities.
Remuneration:
This is an onsite position in Calgary, Alberta, with 20-30 business days of travel throughout the year.
