Summit Search Group has been engaged on a new search to recruit an Assistant Pharmacy Manager for BioScript Solutions, a national leader in specialty pharmacy services. This is a key leadership role in a patient-focused, fast-paced environment, offering the opportunity to support clinical excellence while contributing to innovative pharmacy operations in the specialty care space.
We’re seeking a collaborative, detail-driven Assistant Pharmacy Manager to oversee pharmacy workflow, support clinical practices, and ensure exceptional service across all patient and stakeholder touchpoints. This role is perfect for a licensed pharmacist with leadership experience and a passion for operational excellence in specialty healthcare.
Assistant Pharmacy Manager Role Overview:
Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the Assistant Pharmacy Manager will play a vital role in supervising the pharmacy team, managing daily operations, and supporting the safe, efficient dispensing of specialty medications. You’ll also contribute to training, inventory oversight, and regulatory compliance while fostering a culture of accountability and patient-centered care.
This role offers leadership visibility, opportunities for process improvement, and direct involvement in delivering high-impact healthcare services.
Responsibilities:
Pharmacy Operations & Workflow Management
- Support the Pharmacy Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, including workflow, inventory, and medication dispensing.
- Delegate tasks and supervise staff to ensure productivity, quality control, and adherence to pharmacy protocols.
- Maintain full compliance with College of Pharmacists and Health Canada regulations.
Patient Care & Clinical Excellence
- Contribute to the clinical practice through direct patient interaction and supporting the Staff Pharmacist workflow.
- Ensure patient safety by documenting and reporting all adverse events, incidents, and product quality complaints.
- Consistently uphold standards related to cold chain requirements for biologics and specialty medications.
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, coach, and train pharmacy staff to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Promote a collaborative team environment with a focus on excellence in patient service.
- Lead by example in customer service delivery to patients, physicians, and internal stakeholders.
Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure timely completion of documentation including infusion feedback reports and other compliance requirements.
- Stay current with new pharmacy protocols, procedures, and clinical communications.
Qualifications:
- Currently licensed to practice pharmacy in the applicable province.
- Minimum of 1 year of pharmacy and people management experience.
- Experience in a specialty pharmacy environment is considered a strong asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Exceptional communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a remote team structure.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
