Position Scope:
Our client is seeking a senior technology and operations leader to own and evolve their broadcast platforms, media operations, and workflow automation, enabling a faster, more flexible, and highly scalable content supply chain. This role combines broadcast technology leadership, media operations, and enterprise workflow automation, with a clear mandate to modernise operating models and reduce complexity.
The Vice President of Media Platforms and Distribution Technology is a senior executive leader responsible for the strategy, delivery, and evolution of broadcast technology, media supply chain operations, and content services across the organization’s global portfolio. This role ensures scalable, secure, and future-ready platforms that support cable channels, FAST services, digital, and emerging distribution models including satellite and IP delivery, while enabling creative, operational, and commercial teams to deliver premium content efficiently and reliably.
This VP partners closely with business units, Global Product Delivery and Corporate Technology to align platforms and services with the organization’s growth strategy, international footprint, and audience-first approach. This role combines broadcast technology leadership, media operations, and enterprise workflow automation, with a clear mandate to modernise operating models and reduce complexity.
This role will report to the Chief Technology Officer and is a hybrid position requiring in-office attendance at the head office in Toronto for a minimum of three (3) days per week.
Core Responsibilities and Duties:
Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute the long-term vision and roadmap for broadcast technology, media workflows, and content services.
- Lead and inspire multi-disciplinary teams across broadcast engineering & operations, media services, and content delivery.
- Act as a senior advisor to executive leadership on technology trends, risks, and opportunities impacting media and broadcast.
- Establish governance, standards, and best practices across broadcast and media technology domains.
Broadcast & Media Technology
- Oversee end-to-end broadcast and streaming services supporting the organization’s owned and-operated cable channels, FAST services, and third-party distribution partners.
- Lead modernization initiatives across cloud, IP, virtualization, automation, and MAM workflows.
- Ensure high availability, resiliency, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance across North American and international operations.
- Own strategic vendor relationships and technology partnerships aligned with the organization’s innovation and cost-efficiency goals.
- Select solution and lead transition to software-defined and IP-based technologies supporting playout and delivery system.
Media & Content Services
- Manage the organization’s media supply chain tech stack, from content ingestion and post-production through QC, metadata, rights, storage, localization, and distribution.
- Oversee Master Control and associated operations including Playout.
- Ensure reliable, scalable delivery across global platforms, while optimizing content services improving speed, quality, and scale.
- Establish consistent global standards for metadata, asset lifecycle management, versioning, and localization.
- Provide operational leadership for the enterprise MAM and its automation, focusing on metadata driven automated workflows and adjacent system integration.
- Partner with Global product delivery, Program Presentation, and Distribution teams to support linear, VOD, FAST and international platform delivery.
Operational Excellence
- Own budgets, forecasting, and cost optimization for broadcast technology and content services across the organization.
- Vendor management including service improvements negotiations. Define and track KPIs, SLAs, and service performance metrics.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, workflow optimization, and data-driven decision making.
- Ensure strong governance around security, rights protection, and operational risk management.
People & Culture
- Provide team and business leadership and vision.
- Build, develop, and retain high-performing technical and operational teams.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and inclusion.
- Develop succession plans and invest in skills growth aligned with future technologies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- MBA or advanced technical degree.
- 12+ years of experience in broadcast technology, media engineering, or content operations, including senior leadership roles.
- Deep expertise in broadcast systems, media workflows, and content delivery ecosystems.
- Proven experience leading large, complex teams and cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong understanding of linear TV, digital/OTT platforms, and evolving distribution models.
- Experience leading operational transformation.
- Demonstrated success managing budgets, vendors, and enterprise-scale platforms.
- Experience with cloud-based media architectures and IP-based broadcast environments.
- Background in media asset management, content supply chain automation, and post-production services.
- Familiarity with FAST channels, streaming platforms, and international distribution.
- MAM or metadata driven workflow platform ownership experience.
