Accounting and Collections Assistant

Position Summary:
As the Accounting and Collections Assistant, you will support the accounting team by maintaining accurate loan records and ensure timely repayment, processing, and managing proactive collection follow-ups.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional attention to detail, organizational and communication skills. You will fit in seamlessly in a fast-paced environment, be able to quickly learn processes and adapt to new regulations.
You possess a continuous improvement mindset with a knack for developing processes while contributing positively as a collaborative team member.
Responsibilities
- Monitor loan repayments and follow up on outstanding balances
- Support collections activities and repayment arrangements
- Maintain accurate financial and loan records
- Post payments and assist with reconciliations
- Support month-end and year-end accounting processes
- Respond to customer account inquiries
- Assist with reporting, documentation, and process improvements
- Collaborate with internal teams to support daily operations
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
- Experience in collections, accounting, accounts receivable, or reconciliations
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial documentation
- Demonstrated accuracy working with financial information
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong communication and customer service abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience working with financial or loan management systems considered an asset
