About the Organization
Summit Search Group has been retained by Montessori Smile School on the recruitment of their inaugural Lower Elementary Montessori Teacher. Founded as Brandon’s first Montessori school, Montessori Smile is a growing learning community located on 19th Street in Brandon, Manitoba. The school currently provides full-time Toddler and Casa programming for children ages 2 to 6, Monday to Friday, in a carefully prepared environment furnished with authentic, handcrafted Montessori materials.
Rooted in the belief that children learn best when given freedom within structure, Montessori Smile employs educators selected for both their qualifications and their genuine capacity to see and support each child as an individual. The school follows traditional Montessori practices and is actively working toward AMI alignment and certification. Having built a strong foundation at the early childhood level, Montessori Smile is now preparing to open its first Elementary programme for children ages 6 to 9. This is a foundational hire and a genuine opportunity to help shape that environment from the ground up.
The Opportunity
Montessori Smile School is seeking an AMI-trained Montessori Teacher to lead the launch of its new Lower Elementary (6–9) classroom beginning August 2026. The incoming Teacher will take ownership of a prepared environment spanning the full Elementary Montessori curriculum, delivering individualized presentations in Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, Geography, History, and Cultural Studies through a child-led, inquiry-based approach. Following the mixed-age model central to Montessori philosophy, the Teacher will nurture peer mentorship, cooperation, and independent thinking among students ages 6 to 9. This is a full-time, permanent role suited to a practitioner who is energized by building something meaningful from the ground up and ready to make a lasting contribution to a growing school community.

- Prepare and maintain an authentic Montessori Lower Elementary environment in full alignment with AMI principles and best practices.
- Plan and deliver presentations across the Elementary curriculum, ensuring depth, continuity, and individual relevance for each student.
- Observe, assess, and respond to individual student development, adapting the environment and instructional approach as needed.
- Establish a strong classroom culture with consistent expectations that foster independence, community, and academic engagement.
- Communicate openly and professionally with families, serving as a trusted partner in each child’s educational journey and contributing to the wider school community.
- Collaborate actively with school leadership as the Elementary programme develops, bringing initiative and adaptability to a growing environment.
Qualifications
- AMI Diploma is required;
- Clear and confident communication with children, families, and colleagues, including strong written and verbal proficiency in English.
- A genuine commitment to authentic Montessori philosophy, with a disposition toward reflective practice and ongoing professional development.
- Flexibility and initiative to contribute meaningfully in a developing school, including a willingness to support programme growth beyond the classroom as needed.
- Preference given to candidates currently based in Canada or holding valid Canadian work authorisation; international candidates with viable immigration pathways, including those with French language proficiency, are welcome to apply.
