Executive Director
Summit Search Group has proudly partnered with Bravestone Centre on the search for their next Executive Director. Guided by their mission, Bravestone Centre is a non-profit charitable organization that provides those who identify as women and their children affected by adult intimate partner violence with secure and safe on-site residence, individual and group therapeutic counselling, support programs, advocacy, and connection with community resources. Their mandate is to address the needs of women who have already taken steps toward resolving the initial crisis involved in their decision to separate from their abusive partner.
The Position:
Bravestone Centre Inc. is seeking a compassionate, strategic, and trauma-informed Executive Director to lead the organization in delivering high-quality, evidence-informed services to survivors of intimate partner violence. Grounded in a deep understanding of trauma and the complex impacts of abuse on women and children, the Executive Director provides visionary leadership across strategy, clinical programming, operations, financial stewardship, facilities oversight, and community engagement. This role ensures that organizational policies, partnerships, and service delivery reflect best practices in violence-informed care and professional counselling standards. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director acts as the primary organizational leader and spokesperson, fostering strong governance relationships while ensuring operational excellence and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the organization’s vision, strategic plan, and long-term priorities.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of intimate partner violence to guide strategic planning, policy development, risk assessment, and decision-making.
- Advise the Board on emerging trends, sector risks, legislative considerations, and best practices in trauma-informed service delivery.
- Identify and communicate internal and external issues that may impact the organization.
- Serve as organizational spokesperson alongside the Board Chair and represent Bravestone Centre in the community.
Program & Clinical Leadership
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all programs and services.
- Ensure services align with the organization’s mission and reflect Board priorities.
- Promote ethical, professional, and evidence-informed counselling practices.
- Ensure counselling programs address the complex impacts of intimate partner violence, including trauma and systemic barriers.
- Monitor service delivery to maintain and continuously improve program quality.
Organizational Operations & Human Resources
- Develop and implement operational plans aligned with strategic direction.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure compliance with policies and legislation.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, supervision, and performance management of staff.
- Establish and maintain a positive, healthy, and safe workplace environment.
- Ensure secure record-keeping and confidentiality across all organizational files.
Financial Stewardship & Resource Development
- Collaborate with the Board to prepare and manage the annual budget.
- Monitor monthly cash flow and approve expenditures within delegated authority.
- Ensure sound bookkeeping and financial reporting practices.
- Research funding opportunities and oversee fundraising strategies and proposal development.
- Ensure compliance with taxation and regulatory requirements.
Facilities Management, Risk Oversight & Community Relations
- Oversee residential facility operations, maintenance, and coordination with Manitoba Housing.
- Monitor rent collection processes, damage deposits, and facility financial records.
- Develop systems for regular cleaning, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
- Identify and mitigate organizational risks to clients, staff, finances, and reputation.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Education & Professional Background:
- Minimum undergraduate degree in a related human services field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Five or more years of progressive management experience in the non-profit social service sector.
- Demonstrated knowledge of intimate partner violence, trauma, and professional counselling practices.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Leadership and governance within non-profit organizations.
- Human resources management and employment legislation.
- Financial management and budgeting.
- Federal and provincial legislation applicable to the voluntary sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial management systems.
