The Position:
Summit Search Group has been retained by Sugar ‘N’ Spice on the recruitment of their Executive Director. Sugar ’N’ Spice Kiddie Haven Inc. is a trusted non-profit childcare organization proudly serving families in Winnipeg’s Riverbend area. With three vibrant centres and a fourth location opening soon, Sugar ’N’ Spice has been a cornerstone of early learning in the community for over three decades. Their programs emphasize play-based learning, inclusivity, and social development, offering children enriching experiences that foster creativity, curiosity, and confidence.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will serve as the senior leader responsible for guiding Sugar ’N’ Spice through its next stage of growth. This position oversees all aspects of operations across multiple centres, ensuring the highest standards of care, compliance, and educational excellence. The Executive Director will play a pivotal role in driving strategic priorities, supporting staff development, managing financial sustainability, and strengthening relationships with families, partners, and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement organizational strategies in alignment with the Board’s vision, ensuring continued growth and operational excellence.
- Oversee the daily management of all centres, ensuring adherence to Manitoba’s Community Child Care Standards Act and all licensing requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of centre directors and educators, fostering a positive workplace culture centered on collaboration, inclusion, and continuous learning.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, oversee payroll and funding applications, and ensure strong fiscal accountability across all sites.
- Support the design and evaluation of inclusive, play-based learning programs that meet the developmental needs of children at every age level.
- Collaborate closely with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates on operations, financial performance, strategic progress, and leading the organization through the launch of a new centre.
Qualifications:
- ECE III (or equivalent) with specialized training in childcare management is highly desired.
- 5+ years’ experience of progressive leadership experience in early childhood education or a related field.
- Strong understanding of Manitoba’s childcare regulations, licensing and funding frameworks.
- Proven success in leading teams, managing budgets, and overseeing multi-site operations.
