Summit Search Group has partnered with MEER Engineering on the recruitment of a Senior Mechanical Engineer. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will play a critical role in the design and delivery of mechanical and plumbing systems, project management, and client coordination. Reporting directly to leadership and working collaboratively with junior and intermediate team members, the successful candidate will manage multiple projects across various phases, from conceptual design to construction administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee engineering project elements from design through to completion, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget.
- Lead and mentor intermediate and junior engineering team members.
- Design mechanical and plumbing systems for commercial and institutional buildings.
- Conduct construction site reviews and evaluate HVAC systems, equipment sizing, and selection.
- Perform energy modeling and carbon impact analysis using tools such as HAP or Trace 3D.
- Coordinate drawings with other disciplines (e.g., electrical, architectural, structural).
- Review and respond to technical inquiries from contractors and clients.
- Ensure timely, high-quality deliverables and detailed mechanical designs.
- Support the project manager with documentation, reporting, and scheduling.
- Conduct site investigations and construction reviews as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng) preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in HVAC and/or mechanical consulting.
- Expertise in Revit and BIM, including family development and point cloud integration.
- Experience in energy modeling and working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Proven ability to lead project design and mentor team members.
- Strong understanding of Canadian engineering codes, standards, and associations.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
- Able to multitask and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a collaborative team player.
