The Position:
Summit Search Group has been retained by a leading, independent consulting firm specializing in employee benefits, retirement, and wellness strategies. The firm is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Group Benefits Analyst to join their dynamic team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact consulting projects while building a deep understanding of group benefits design, financial analysis, and client strategy. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, a collaborative approach, and a passion for helping organizations create sustainable and employee-focused benefit solutions.
As a Group Benefits Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting client deliverables through rigorous data analysis, financial modeling, and vendor assessments. Working alongside experienced consultants and Account Managers, you will help prepare renewal analyses, cost projections, RFP comparisons, and presentation materials. Your insights and accuracy will directly support strategic decision-making for a diverse portfolio of employer clients. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, thrives in a fast-paced professional environment, and is eager to develop deep subject-matter expertise in group benefits consulting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret benefits-related data, including plan performance, claims utilization, and employee census information.
- Develop detailed financial reports, renewal evaluations, and cost projections to support strategic planning and renewal negotiations.
- Coordinate Request for Proposals (RFPs), gather carrier quotes, and assess plan competitiveness and value.
- Prepare clear and professional client deliverables such as presentations, benchmarking reports, and compliance documents.
- Monitor industry trends, legislation, and emerging practices to provide relevant insights to both internal teams and clients.
- Maintain internal systems and ensure data accuracy across all reporting and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary Education in Business, Finance, Human Resources or a related field.
- 3+ years’ experience in employee benefits, insurance, HR consulting, or actuarial analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with strong analytical and quantitative capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
