Vice President of Finance – O&G
Our client, a producer of oil and natural gas, is currently looking for a Vice President of Finance to join their senior leadership team in Calgary.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Office the VP of Finance will be an integral part of the leadership team and will be a strong voice in helping make key decisions for the overall operations of the company and its subsidiaries in Canada. The VP of Finance will manage and provide stewardship for the overall asset integrity, regulatory compliance, and good petroleum industry practices for upstream assets.
Key Accountabilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Manage the companies accounting and treasury functions, ensure compliance with, and interpretation of financial control and reporting requirements.
- Assist in formulating the company’s direction and strategies through a robust business planning process and advise the CEO on the financial implementation of strategic issues.
- Accountable for financial and statutory reporting, including external quarterly and annual reports and any issuance of financial information.
- Develop financial and tax strategies.
- Present financial results and complex issues to senior management and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
- Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile.
Fiscal Accountability
- Review, develop and implement policies, processes and control for the effective operation of the financial Review, revise and implement best practices for all accounting and financial control.
- Monitor business results every month and provide a presentation of the financial results to the CEO and the Board.
- Manage the capital request and budgeting processes.
- Develop performance measures and monitoring systems that support the company’s strategic direction.
- Provide financial support to the Business Units.
- Develop and implement audit plans and Liaise with internal or external auditors. Provide feedback to the CEO and Board as appropriate.
- Manage the accounting, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury functions.
- Maintain banking relationships.
Requirements:
- CPA is a MUST
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive senior financial management experience in an oil and gas operating environment.
- Experience working for a publicly traded organization would be an asset.
- Experience in stock IPO and listing would be an asset.
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions would be an
- Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles.
- Ability to make recommendations and provide analytical insight and interpretation of complex financial data to senior management in a clear and concise manner.
- An entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
- Keen perception of oil and gas industry trends as well as macro-economic factors affecting the oil and gas industry.
- Excellent analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
Remuneration:
Remuneration for this role consists of a strong base salary plus annual bonus, RSP’s, benefit package, as well as other perks.
