Summit Search Group has been engaged by our client to recruit their next Truck Mechanic. Our client is a large, well-established organization providing essential recycling and environmental services to the food and agriculture industries. With operations across Canada, the organization plays an important role in sustainable resource management and environmental responsibility. Based in Winnipeg, the Truck Mechanic is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and inspection of the company’s fleet equipment, including trucks and trailers.
Reporting to the Logistics Department, this role is critical in ensuring fleet reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. This opportunity is well suited for a hands-on mechanic who enjoys diagnosing mechanical issues, working independently, and contributing to a safe and productive maintenance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on fleet equipment, including trucks and trailers.
- Conduct regular safety inspections to ensure equipment meets regulatory and operational standards.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure fleet availability and operational readiness.
- Support other maintenance-related duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
- Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding tasks including bending, lifting, pulling, and pushing.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all safety procedures.
Preferred
- Red Seal certification (Class 4) or equivalent heavy-duty mechanic designation.
- Experience working on trucks and trailers in a fleet or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Class 1 driver’s license considered an asset.
Work Environment
- Shift work including day and evening shifts.
- Physically demanding work environment requiring lifting up to approximately 50 lbs.
- Industrial setting typical of a manufacturing or processing facility, including variable temperatures and moderate to high noise levels.
