Territory Manager – Hardware & Building Supplies
Nova Scotia (Halifax, Kentville, or Truro areas preferred)
Reporting to the President, the Territory Manager is responsible for driving sales growth, market penetration, and customer relationships within an assigned territory in the hardware and building supply market. This role manages existing accounts while developing new business with dealers, lumberyards, home centers, and contractor-focused customers. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated sales professional with strong product knowledge, relationship-building skills, and a deep understanding of the construction and building materials industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow sales within an assigned geographic territory
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with hardware stores, building supply dealers, lumberyards, and contractor accounts
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand market share
- Execute sales strategies, promotions, and pricing programs in alignment with company goals
- Conduct regular in-person customer visits, product presentations, and training sessions
- Collaborate with internal teams including customer service, operations, marketing, and credit
- Monitor territory performance, sales trends, and competitive activity
- Prepare sales forecasts, reports, and account plans
- Support merchandising initiatives, inventory management, and product launches
- Resolve customer issues and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred
- 3+ years of sales experience in hardware, building materials, construction products, or related industries
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Strong understanding of distribution channels, contractor markets, and retail environments
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within the territory
- Experience calling on lumberyards, independent hardware stores, or big-box retailers
- Knowledge of building codes, construction practices, or product applications
