Reporting to the Manager, Engineer & Projects this position provides design expertise to the site and project engineering group in the application of the National Build and Fire Codes in an industrial setting.
Responsibilities:
Provide design engineering services, expert opinion, structural and civil inspections, project management and oversite for the design, construction and/or maintenance of various building, equipment, lifting device upgrades and fire safety upgrades at a uranium conversion facility.
Conducts technical investigations, studies and reports and makes related recommendations.
Responsible for ensuring site compliance with all regulatory codes, standards, and company structural and civil design criteria and test reports.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge and understanding of relevant design standards and codes.
Results oriented self-starter with strong leadership skills and a collaborative approach
Excellent communication skills; ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization and provide direction and oversight to the mechanical skilled trades group through written instructions and sketches.
Knowledge of structural design/software such as ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000 an asset.
Education and Experience:
Civil Engineering degree (structural subfield).
Professional engineer (P.Eng. or E.I.T.) licensed to practice in the province of Ontario (or actively working towards).
Clear police background check.
PMP (Project Management Professional) considered an asset.
Lean certification or demonstrated experience an asset.
