Summit Search Group has been retained by our client to recruit a Project & Estimation Manager, a critical role within a growing custom residential construction business.
This is a highly influential position, ideal for a construction professional who thrives on both planning and execution, and who enjoys shaping projects from early costing through to successful delivery.
About the Company
Our client is an integrated design-build firm, self-performing key trades such as concrete and framing. With a focus on craftsmanship, transparency, and client satisfaction, they have built a strong reputation for delivering high-end custom homes throughout the region. Their integrated approach allows for greater control, efficiency, and accountability across every phase of construction.
The Role
Working closely with the design and construction teams, the Project & Estimation Manager will take ownership of project costing, procurement strategy, and pre-construction planning, while also maintaining visibility and involvement as projects transition into execution.
This role is responsible for ensuring projects are set up for success through accurate estimating, strong vendor coordination, and practical project oversight. The ideal candidate brings a balance of estimating expertise and project management capability, along with strong residential construction knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all estimating and pre-construction activities once design intent is established
- Develop detailed project budgets, including accurate costing, allowances, and contingencies
- Establish procurement strategies and lead vendor and subcontractor selection
- Coordinate closely with design, estimating, and construction teams to ensure alignment
- Prepare and manage project schedules, milestones, and timelines
- Conduct constructability reviews and identify risks prior to project kickoff
- Ensure scope clarity and readiness prior to transition into construction
- Maintain involvement through project execution to support cost control and alignment
- Support value engineering initiatives while maintaining quality and design intent
- Maintain strong documentation, systems, and controls to support business growth
- Participate in client meetings as required to support clarity and confidence
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in residential construction, estimating, or project management
- Strong understanding of custom home construction methods, materials, and sequencing
- Proven experience developing detailed budgets, scopes, and procurement plans
- Experience managing or supporting projects through multiple phases
- Sound judgment related to timelines, materials, and trade coordination
- Proficiency with construction management software; Buildertrend experience is a strong asset
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
