Our client is a well-established and growing metals manufacturing company with multiple facilities. They are seeking a full-time Operations Manager to lead multi-site operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role focused on driving operational excellence, safety culture, and team development.
Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include:
- The position will require presence at the locations with close working relationship with all partners and stakeholders.
- Management oversight of Plant Operations.
- Management oversight of related trucking Operations.
- Ensuring the safe operations of all personnel in the plant with a strong focus on developing a Health and Safety culture.
- Responsibility to ensure the quality of products produced and shipped.
- Creating long-term goal and the development and execution of strategy, project oversight and accountability for results.
- Developing a team with strong bench strength. Identifying and developing team members for key positions within the organization and ensuring regular cross training.
- Responsible for analyzing and budgeting operational costs and overtime to minimize expenses and Capex spending.
- Identifying problems within the organization and working with the leadership team in implement robust solutions at all levels of the organization.
- Communication of overall vision for the business and execution of the teams to this strategy.
- Establishing and maintaining a team first culture, employee development, and continuous improvement with focus on aggressive benchmarking in increase competitiveness.
- High energy leadership.
Qualifications:
- Track record in leading a diverse manufacturing team, preferably within the metals industry or heavy manufacturing.
- Minimum of 8 years experience in heavy manufacturing, preferably in the steel industry.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably Engineering, Business or related field).
- Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements and best practices.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six sigma, TPM and other process improvement tools.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Well organized and adaptable to a dynamic manufacturing environment
- Proficient in MS Office and a knowledge of ERP systems.
- Transportation experience would be an asset.
- Experience with cranes and trucking would be beneficial.
