Summit Search Group has been engaged by our client to recruit their next Millwright. Our client is a large, well-established organization focused on sustainable resource management and the repurposing of organic by-products into valuable products for the food, feed, and energy industries. With operations across Canada, the organization plays an important role in supporting environmental sustainability and responsible resource use.
Based in Winnipeg, the Millwright will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and play a key role in maintaining the reliability and performance of processing equipment. As part of the maintenance team, this position focuses on preventative maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, and hands-on repairs to minimize equipment downtime and ensure efficient operations.
This opportunity is well suited for a skilled trades professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced industrial environment and solving complex mechanical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on processing equipment to ensure reliability and minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and identify root causes of equipment failures.
- Repair or replace defective machinery components through scheduled maintenance and unscheduled repairs.
- Fabricate parts required during maintenance, equipment overhauls, or system setup.
- Support the installation, rebuilding, and maintenance of mechanical systems throughout the facility.
- Work with equipment such as screw conveyors, belt conveyors, pumps, reducers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Promote and comply with all health and safety policies and regulations.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient maintenance environment.
- Perform additional maintenance-related duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Certified Millwright (Red Seal or equivalent).
- 3–5 years of trade experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
- Ability to work rotating shifts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a maintenance team.
Preferred
- Experience working with conveyors, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and machinery rebuilding.
- Knowledge of PLCs and soft start systems.
- Welding experience considered an asset.
Work Environment
- Industrial plant environment with mechanical equipment and moving machinery.
- Work may require rotating shifts.
- Physically demanding role requiring lifting, bending, and working around production equipment.
