MARINE ENGINEER
About The Role:
Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the Marine Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of maintenance, planning, inventory and asset control. It is expected that the work performed will be conducted in a safe and efficient manner, adhere to regulatory requirements and Wolverine Terminals Standards. This roll will work a Monday – Friday schedule. Due to the nature of the roll and responsibilities, after hours availability including nights, weekends and holidays may be required from time to time
Key Activities: Ready for Operations
Work with the Operations Leadership Team to implement, support and maintain:
· Planned maintenance system conforming to regulatory requirements
· Spares and critical spares inventory and management system
· Tool and equipment inventory
· Third party service agreements
Key Activities: Maintenance
· Administer and coordinate key elements of the maintenance programs, including the documentation and records related to work orders, work plans, warranty work, service requests and safe working procedures
· Accountable for assigned maintenance budget spending
· Planning all preventative and corrective maintenance activities
· Ensuring all preventative and corrective maintenance are completed in a timely manger including all meter proving activities.
· Plan, organize and manage third party maintenance call outs
· As a member of the field leadership team, working with Terminal Manager and others to conduct and assist with monitoring programs, to identify improvement opportunities which may require data collection, analysis, and reporting
· Maintain, collect, and analyze data to apply analytical thinking and analysis tools for root cause and/or cause and effect determination
· Document control and record keeping for inspections, reports, and asset information
· Ensure housekeeping is kept to high standards
· Lead by example and enforce Wolverine Terminals safe working practices
· Support key projects from conception to completion
· Support any future drydocking and or class surveys as required
Key Activities: Inventory and Assets
· Provide direction, leadership, and support to the Operations department, ensuring inventory functions are carried out to a high standard including cycle/periodic inventory counts, disposal of obsolete items, new assets set-up and detailed reporting.
· Support and analyze Engineering and Maintenance budgets and quarterly forecasts, including monthly cost, variance, and analysis reports.
· Process or complete purchasing documentation, including requisitions, purchase orders, data filing and classifying purchase requirements to the appropriate cost center
· Purchase materials and services, clarifying requirements with employees and user departments.
· Research, source and negotiate quality, pricing, and delivery of products, including using historical and other benchmarking data, to ensure competitive pricing
· Build and maintain trusted relationships with vendors to sustain quality of goods, timely delivery, and compliance to contracts
· Provide administrative assistance as required

Minimum Requirements:
- 10 + years’ experience within the marine industry performing engineering / maintenance duties
- Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering from a recognized University or College
- 3rd or 4th class marine engineer license / Trade certification
- Experience working on electrical components up to 480 V
- Self-reliance, with the ability to take initiative and make decisions under time constraints
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, with the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders
- Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills, with attention to detail so that workflow is managed efficiently and accurately
- Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another or a different nature
- Adapt to frequent changes in workload; adjust priorities quickly as circumstance dictates
- Proficiency with MS programs and computerized maintenance management systems
- Exercise discretion, tact and judgement when handling confidential and sensitive information
- Understanding of modern maintenance and reliability best practices
- Lift up to 50lbs, climb ladders, bend, crawl, stand or sit for extended periods of time
- Wear full or half-face respirators, including SCBA
- Perform inspections, including confined space
- Able to travel domestically and internationally
- Respond to calls after-hours as required
- Participate in Emergency exercises
- Complete assigned training and courses
- Participate in ad-hoc projects
- Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and a valid passport
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Fluent in English
