The Position:
Summit Search Group has been retained by Rainbow Resource Centre on the recruitment of their newest Manager Human Resources. This is an exciting, newly created position, offering a rare opportunity for an experienced HR professional to build the organization’s entire human resources function from the ground up. This position will be instrumental in establishing policies, procedures, and best practices that will shape the future of the organization.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED) and working collaboratively with internal leaders and the board, the Manager Human Resources will develop and implement HR policies, create employee processes, and foster a workplace culture of consistency, transparency, and excellence. This individual will also liaise with the union to build collaborative relationships, negotiate agreements, and manage grievances effectively.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in creating an HR framework that aligns with the organization’s values and strategic objectives, while ensuring compliance with labor regulations and fostering an inclusive and engaging work environment.
Responsibilities:
HR Strategy and Development:
- Build and lead the organization’s HR function, creating foundational policies, processes, and best practices.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive HR manual, including policies on recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and workplace conduct.
- Collaborate with the board and HR Committee review, refine, and approve all HR policies and procedures.
- Partner with the ED and internal leadership to foster a strong organizational culture, rooted in equity, transparency, and HR excellence.
Onboarding and Recruitment:
- Design and implement a structured onboarding process to ensure a seamless and positive employee experience.
- Work with department leaders to develop job descriptions, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and union agreements.
- Lead recruitment efforts, including job postings, screening, and supporting the hiring process.
HR Operations and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, employment standards, and workplace regulations.
- Establish systems for tracking and managing employee data, including records, benefits, and performance documentation.
- Implement consistent and fair employee relations practices, ensuring transparency and adherence to policies.
- Work collaboratively with union representatives to handle grievances, negotiate agreements, and ensure compliance with collective agreements.
- Provide guidance and support to leadership on labor relations strategies and best practices.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a management or leadership role.
- Strong experience in labor relations, including working with unions, handling grievances, and negotiating agreements.
- Proven ability to develop and implement HR policies, processes, and manuals from the ground up.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with leadership teams and boards on HR strategies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in building a new HR function.
- Strong knowledge of employment standards, labor regulations, and HR best practices.
