Our client is a national distributor of quality foods. They are looking for a full-time Key Account Manager to join their team based in the GTA. This is a hybrid role, with time spent on the road within your sales territory as well as time spent working from a home office.
The Key Account Manager’s main purpose is to nurture strategic client relationships, spearhead revenue growth from key accounts, aim for high client satisfaction and streamline internal sales processes. You will work collaboratively by mentoring less experienced team members to ensure they contribute to the alignment of client needs with organizational strategies.
Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include:
- Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with key clients, understanding their business needs and aligning company products to drive value
- Developing and executing account strategies aligned with company objectives to maximize revenue from key accounts
- Proactively identifying upsell, cross-sell, and expansion opportunities within key accounts
- Leading negotiations on contract renewals and price changes
- Anticipating and addressing potential issues or challenges for key accounts
- Adhering to company policies, especially concerning account profitability, replenishments, and recovery of fines
- Regularly analyzing key account performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, leading implementation
- Providing actionable insights derived from data analysis to optimize account performance, ensuring profitability and driving growth
- Leading development and delivery of comprehensive reports and presentations to internal stakeholders and key clients regarding account performance and strategies
- Developing and updating sales forecasting for assigned key accounts
- Providing opinions, comments, and feedback in activities practiced by the team (team meetings etc.)
- Providing guidance and mentorship to team members with less experience
- Collaborating with Category Management and Buying teams to support efforts on inventory and product management
- Maintaining detailed records of sales activities in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, including key client feedback summaries, and account performance reporting
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4-7 years of experience in sales or account management, preferably in the food and beverage or personal care industries
- Strong negotiation and account management skills
- Advanced CRM software and sales analytics tools
- Ability to work under pressure and meet sales targets
- Superior communication and presentation skills
- A strong relationship builder that is skilled at creating strong connections with clients to promote trust and drive repeat business
- The ability to analyze and to assess market trends and competitive landscapes
- Professional and clear in all written and verbal communication
