Job Title: Indigenous Community Engagement Manager
Company Overview: Our client is committed to the environmental and recycling sector in British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Their programs aim to engage with First Nation and Métis communities to support recycling initiatives and reduce waste sent to landfills.
Position Overview: The Manager, Indigenous and Community Engagement will play a crucial role in fostering relationships with First Nation and Métis communities in British Columbia and Saskatchewan. This role will involve developing and implementing strategies to support community participation in recycling programs, as well as collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure program success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engagement strategies with First Nations and Métis communities to support program participation.
- Foster relationships with Indigenous leaders and organizations, respecting cultural values and priorities.
- Collaborate with relevant partners to align on engagement approaches.
- Supervise day-to-day program operations and support a field-based team member in maintaining program standards.
- Promote and facilitate the implementation of program plans related to Indigenous and community engagement.
- Engage with communities through events, presentations, and educational initiatives to promote recycling programs.
- Operations and logistics experience would be considered an asset
Qualifications:
- 7-10 years of experience in Indigenous engagement.
- Education in Indigenous studies or related fields is beneficial.
- Strong leadership, communication, and consultation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and project management tools.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed.
