Human Resources Manager, Non-Profit Healthcare Services
Our client is a well established local NPO in the healthcare services sector looking for a Human Resources Manager to manage the daily operations of the HR department and spearhead all organization-wide HR related services. Experience working in the Non-Profit sector is required and a strong alignment with their company values, philosophy, and beliefs of helping people, giving back, and making the world a better place is critically important.

This is an office-based role working at their SE Calgary office and reporting to the CEO/Executive Director. As the sole HR professional, you are responsible to manage all HR activities:
- Act as a resource for employees on any job-related issues and provide HR coaching and advisement for Department Directors seeking guidance on employment issues with their team.
- Lead the employee selection process including interviewing, reference checking and completing job offers. Manage and/or assist in the terminations of employees and conduct exit interviews.
- Coach Department Directors in the job performance review process and manage employee engagement initiatives including surveys. Work with Department Directors to identify potential risks regarding labour standards and human resources issues.
- Attend meetings and local site visits to show support and offer advice. Represent and advocate on organization’s behalf in a positive manner and assist with investigations into any incidents.
- Administer company benefits plan and act as the primary contact for employee queries. Liaise for the organization between employees and the insurance provider.
- Recommend, develop, and schedule all training and staff development courses. Maintain a staff analysis of training courses and provide an analysis.
- Monitor and ensure appropriate documentation and HR records are kept, including monitoring of personnel files. Implement up-to-date HR processes and ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed including the Employee Handbook.
- Develop short term and long-term goals for the department. Plan and implement systems that perform the work and fulfill the mission and goals of the department and improve the efficiency of processes and procedures to enhance quality, output and outcomes.
Qualifications include a Human Resources related education plus relevant HR Generalist work experience at a department management level. Certified Professional Human Resources (CPHR) designation is preferable with current knowledge of Alberta labour standards, Canadian human rights legislation, Health and safety standards, and Privacy legislation. Compensation includes a salary of $85-95K, allowances for cell phone and local travel (site visits), health benefits plan plus choice of HCSA or TSA, and 4 weeks paid vacation. This is an in-office position (Monday to Friday regular office hours).
