The organization delivers province-wide services rooted in independence, dignity, and holistic rehabilitation, and plays a critical role in advocacy, education, and community integration.

The Role:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Rehabilitation Services provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for SCI Manitoba’s rehabilitation programs. This role oversees service delivery across hospital and community settings, leads and mentors a team of rehabilitation professionals, and works collaboratively with health system partners, government, and community organizations.
The Director will ensure professional standards are upheld, services evolve to meet emerging needs, and rehabilitation programming remains responsive, inclusive, and person-centred
Key Responsibilities:
Program & Clinical Leadership
- Lead the development, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement of rehabilitation programs.
- Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and professional guidance to rehabilitation staff.
- Ensure services align with best practices, professional standards, and SCI Manitoba’s mission.
People Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate rehabilitation counsellors and support staff.
- Foster a collaborative, supportive, and high-performing team culture.
- Support professional growth through coaching, feedback, and skills development.
Hospital & Community Collaboration
- Maintain close working relationships with the Rehabilitation Hospital Spinal Cord Injury Unit.
- Act as a liaison between SCI Manitoba, hospital teams, and community-based service providers.
- Participate in care planning, program development, and service coordination.
Strategic & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with government departments, funders, and community agencies.
- Represent SCI Manitoba provincially and nationally through SCI Canada and related forums.
- Contribute to funding proposals, reporting, and program sustainability initiatives.
Governance & Reporting
- Prepare program reports, data analysis, and service metrics for the Board and funders.
- Participate in Board and committee meetings as a senior resource.
- Support organizational planning and contribute to annual reporting and communications.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Rehabilitation Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing professional counselling or rehabilitation teams.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership or management role.
- Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CRC) designation preferred or willingness to pursue.
- Strong understanding of spinal cord injury, disability-related legislation, and independent living philosophy.
- Demonstrated ability in leadership, conflict resolution, collaboration, and program development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning new systems.
