Overview
Our client, a well-established and highly respected national leader, is seeking a Director of Finance to join their executive team. Working out of the company’s Edmonton office, this role will provide strategic financial leadership and oversee all aspects of the organization’s finance function. This is a key position responsible for driving financial performance, ensuring operational excellence, and supporting continued growth across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Provide executive-level leadership and oversight of the full finance function, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, with direct reports across multiple functional areas
Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, including balance sheets, reconciliations, and monthly/annual reporting
Manage and coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate standards
Establish and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and financial governance practices
Partner with senior leadership to support strategic planning, business expansion, and operational decision-making
Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights to improve profitability and efficiency
Oversee and provide guidance on complex compensation, commission, and bonus structures across the organization
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax requirements, and reporting standards
Support mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives as required
Act as a trusted advisor to the President and executive team on all financial matters
Qualifications & Experience
CPA designation is required; MBA is considered a strong asset
Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
Proven experience leading and developing finance teams within a complex, multi-department organization
Strong understanding of financial reporting, audits, compliance, and corporate finance
Experience managing complex commission and incentive structures is highly desirable
Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a dynamic environment
Exceptional analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail
Strong business acumen and the ability to influence decision-making at the executive level
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization

Base salary up to $150,000, commensurate with experience
