Our client is a dynamic and fast-growing third-party logistics (3PL) provider known for delivering customized, end-to-end logistics solutions across North America. With a strong reputation, they are seeking a seasoned Director of Business Development with an entrepreneurial mindset to join their team. The ideal candidate will bring an existing book of business and a deep understanding of logistics operations.
This is a high-impact, remote-based role focused on managing existing accounts while driving new business growth.
As the Director of Business Development, you will report directly to the executive team and play a pivotal role in expanding the company’s market presence while ensuring exceptional service delivery to current clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Account Management: Maintaining and growing relationships with existing clients, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and expansion of services.
- New Business Development: The ability to leverage your existing network and book of business to acquire new clients across various industries.
- Operational Insight: Collaborating closely with operations teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, efficient, and aligned with client needs.
- Strategic Sales: Conducting consultative sales conversations to understand client logistics challenges and design tailored 3PL solutions.
- Pipeline Management: Building and managing a robust sales pipeline, tracking activities, and providing accurate forecasts using a CRM.
- Client Engagement: Initiating and leading client meetings, calls, and presentations to promote the company’s value proposition.
- Market Intelligence: Monitoring industry trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities and inform strategic direction.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in logistics sales, operations, or as a buyer within a large grocery or CPG organization.
- Proven ability to manage and grow a book of business in the logistics or transportation sector.
- Strong understanding of logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and a long-term vision for growth.
- Comfortable with outbound outreach and proactive client engagement.
- Experience with CRM systems is preferred.
- Must be based in Ottawa or the Greater Toronto Area and open to occasional travel as needed.
