The Position:
Summit Search Group has been retained by Rainbow Resource Centre on the recruitment of their newest Director, Collaboration and Systems Change. Rainbow Resource Centre is a leading organization dedicated to supporting Manitoba’s 2SLGBTQ+ communities, offering essential resources, programs, and services. The Centre provides a safe and inclusive space for individuals of all ages, promoting well-being and personal development. Their services include counselling, youth programs, workshops, and social groups. As an advocate for diversity and inclusion, Rainbow Resource Centre plays a crucial role in fostering connection, education, and empowerment for the 2SLGBTQ+ community across the region.
The Director, Collaboration and Systems Change leads a strategic team dedicated to driving systemic change by aligning advocacy, education, communications, and fundraising initiatives. This role builds upon the Centre’s grassroots experience to amplify impact, strengthen partnerships, and expand the Centre’s capacity to advance inclusion and equity for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals across Manitoba.
As a member of the management team, the Director, Collaboration and Systems Change will review and implement the Centre’s first advocacy framework, ensuring that public engagement, policy discussions, and resource mobilization align with key priorities. This individual will represent the Centre in government discussions, media relations, and stakeholder collaborations to influence meaningful change.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Systems Change:
- Implement a comprehensive framework that aligns education, communications, and fundraising efforts with strategic priorities.
- Represent the Centre in discussions with policymakers, working groups, and media to advance 2SLGBTQ+ rights and equity.
- Oversee the development of public awareness campaigns and communications strategies to enhance the Centre’s visibility and influence.
- Work collaboratively with the Manager, Stewardship and Philanthropy to ensure messaging is consistent across all public-facing channels.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, donors, funders, and advocacy partners.
People Management:
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team, ensuring alignment with collaboration and systems change objectives.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and performance management of staff in a unionized environment.
- Foster a respectful and inclusive workplace culture that prioritizes diversity, learning, and staff well-being.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for staff, ensuring growth and engagement.
- Address workplace challenges such as compassion fatigue and trauma through proactive wellness initiatives.
Program and Operations Management:
- Monitor and evaluate initiatives and education programs to ensure strategic objectives are met.
- Collaborate with direct reports to design evaluation tools that measure program impact effectively.
- Identify and secure grant funding opportunities, managing application processes and reporting requirements.
- Develop and manage budgets for related initiatives, ensuring financial accountability and sustainability.
- Contribute to the organization’s strategic planning and ensure efforts align with the Centre’s overall mission.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in public relations, social sciences, community development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, particularly in advocacy, program management, or stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to manage staff in a unionized environment and foster a collaborative, inclusive workplace culture.
- Strong understanding of issues affecting the 2SLGBTQ+ community, including systemic discrimination, social determinants of health, and policy impacts.
- Excellent communication and public relations skills, including media engagement and crisis communication management.
- Experience developing and executing strategic plans, public awareness campaigns, and initiatives for systems change.
