Position Scope:
The Corporate Communications & Events Specialist (Employee Experience Specialist) is integral to the success of the People Strategy team, and to the organization’s guiding mission and growth strategy. Reporting to the Team Lead, Employee Experience, this position acts as the foundation of internal communication, ensuring information flows smoothly across different channels, promoting teamwork and organizational cohesion. Additionally, by overseeing employee events and engagement initiatives, this role plays a pivotal role in nurturing a positive workplace culture, fostering employee morale, and reinforcing the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the internal corporate communications initiatives, to maintain consistency in brand, messaging, and values alignment across all internal communication channels i.e., Email, weekly and monthly newsletters, internal templates, Intranet, social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram etc).
- Design, coordinate, and execute internal corporate events, including the organization’s annual planning conference, DEIB speaker events, quarterly People Strategy planning meetings, and Year End celebration.
- Lead the Corporate Responsibility and Community Outreach programs (Days of Giving).
- Support the Employee Engagement process, including partnerships with external vendors, bi-annual survey maintenance, development, and execution of workplan in partnership with Employee Engagement Committee, implementation and reporting, assessment of data/results, and providing data-driven recommendations on future focus as it pertains to employee engagement.
- Coordinate bi-monthly meetings with the Inclusion and Diversity committee and Employee Engagement Committee. Capturing key highlights and determining action items.
- Conduct research, analytics, and insights to keep the organization updated on external trends and maintain data integrity in People Strategy policies and procedures.
- Research and compile annual submissions for relevant HR, culture, and Inclusion and Diversity awards on behalf of the organization.
- Apply change management best practices to initiatives impacting people and culture, while providing support to the overall People Strategy Department.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR/Business or related field; or equivalent work experience, CHRP would be an asset.
- Proven work experience in an HR function with specialization in communications, corporate event management, and/or employee experience.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication, including strong presentation skills, and the ability to tailor communications to all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated skills in planning, coordinating, and managing large scale events.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Excel. Experience with survey tools (such as Alchemer or Glint) and graphic design software (like Canva).
- Exceptional internal and external customer service and relationship management skills, with a focus on optimizing programs to enhance employee experience.
- Strong analytical skills for tracking KPIs, assessing reporting information, and identifying trends.
- High level of attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a demonstrated ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
- Proven professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality while working independently in an environment with routine interruptions.
