The Position:
Summit Search Group has by Kekekoziibii Development Corporation (KDC) on the recruitment of their next Capital Project Manager. Kekekoziibii Development Corporation (KDC) is the economic development arm of Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, supporting growth through various subsidiaries including Shoal Lake No.40 Contractors Ltd., Shoal Lake No.40 Camp Services Ltd., and Waabong Resources Ltd. KDC is committed to building sustainable infrastructure and economic opportunities that support the long-term prosperity and self-determination of Shoal Lake 40 First Nation.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Capital Project Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, management, and execution of capital projects both within and outside the Shoal Lake 40 community. This leadership role is central to ensuring successful project outcomes by overseeing development processes, collaborating with stakeholders, and managing resources, staff, and contractors. The Capital Project Manager plays a critical role in delivering infrastructure that meets the community’s needs while ensuring regulatory compliance and fiscal responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all phases of capital projects, including design, implementation, construction, assessment, and final completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and quality standards related to the management of capital infrastructure initiatives.
- Manage budgets and financial controls, including preparing reports, reviewing payments, and ensuring that projects are delivered within budget.
- Lead procurement and contract processes, ensuring competitive and consistent cost estimates while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Supervise project staff and external contractors, providing direction, mentorship, and performance evaluations in alignment with KDC values and procedures.
- Maintain and manage building, asset, and property condition records, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with legislative standards.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, business partners, and industry experts, to promote successful project delivery.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience managing medium to large capital infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in project management, including construction methods and contract administration.
- Strong knowledge of local, provincial, and federal regulations and construction standards.
- Skilled in budget preparation, financial reporting, and cost control.
- First Nations/Indigenous lived experience is considered a strong asset.
