Our client is a manufacturer of premium outdoor furniture products serving hospitality, retail, and commercial environments. They are seeking a Business Development Manager to join their team in a full‑time, field‑based consulting role covering the Carolinas (NC/SC) or nearby Southeastern U.S. states.
The Business Development Manager is a hunter‑style, revenue‑driven sales professional focused on expanding the company’s presence across hospitality, resort, retail, and commercial furniture channels. This is a pure selling role with no people management or broker oversight. The consultant is responsible for identifying new customers, growing existing relationships, and meeting aggressive sales targets while promoting durable solutions. This is a permanent, full‑time consulting role with significant field engagement and travel (up to 50%).
Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include:
Sales & Revenue Growth
- Prospect, identify, and qualify new commercial accounts, including hotels, resorts, restaurants, outdoor living retailers, distributors, and commercial design specifiers
- Drive sales pipeline through cold‑calling, networking, trade shows, customer visits, and referrals
- Close new business opportunities and negotiate contracts and pricing to meet or exceed revenue goals
- Develop strategic selling plans tailored to market segments (e.g., hospitality, commercial retail).
Account Development & Relationship Building
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with existing accounts to identify additional revenue opportunities
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, understanding their needs and aligning solutions accordingly
- Present product value propositions focused on durability, sustainability, and design to differentiate against competitors
Market & Competitive Insights
- Analyze market trends in hospitality purchasing, commercial outdoor environments, and sustainability preferences to refine selling strategies
- Monitor competitor products, pricing, and positioning to anticipate challenges and opportunities
Reporting & Forecasting
- Maintain accurate and timely sales forecasts, CRM activity, and pipeline status
- Provide market feedback to product and leadership teams to inform development and strategy
Travel Requirements
- Travel up to approximately 50% throughout the Southeastern U.S. for customer visits, regional tradeshows, demonstrations, and networking events
Qualifications:
- Sales Experience: 5+ years of commercial sales experience, preferably selling into hotels, restaurants, resorts, commercial furniture dealers, or outdoor living / retail accounts
- Field Sales Background: Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a field‑based sales environment
- Hunter Mentality: Demonstrated success in consultative, new‑business‑focused selling
- Relationship Management: Strong ability to build credibility with customers across multiple levels
- Communication Skills: Clear, confident communicator comfortable with customer presentations and negotiations
- Autonomy & Accountability: Self‑directed, results‑oriented professional comfortable with territory ownership
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel extensively and operate in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment
