Our client supplies field servicing forming and shoring rental products for concrete construction. They are looking for a full-time A/P Specialist to join their team based in Toronto, Ontario. This is an on-site position.
The Accounts Payable (A/P) Specialist role is responsible for managing the processing and documentation of accounts payable invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and procedures. This role involves verifying and reconciling invoices, handling vendor inquiries, and maintaining positive relationships with vendors and internal departments. The A/P Specialist also plays a key role in month-end closing activities related to accounts payable, providing detailed reporting to management and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Close collaboration with various departments such as Purchasing, Finance, and Regulatory may be required to effectively manage accounts payable processes.
Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include:
- Processing accounts payable invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Verifying and reconciling invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents.
- Preparing and performing electronic payments.
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies or issues with vendors and internal departments.
- Maintaining vendor relationships and addressing inquiries or concerns.
- Reviewing and reconciling vendor statements.
- Assisting with month-end closing activities related to accounts payable.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Solomon software and Excel is an asset.
- A degree in accounting, finance, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Specialist or similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detailed-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working independently, thinking critically, and exercising delegated decision-making.
- Strong problem-solving skills, innovative thinker, proactive and flexible.
- Ability to build trust and work through conflict both upwards and downwards.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Construction industry experience is an asset.
