About Our Client: Our client is a leading law firm.
Position Scope: The Director will be responsible for leading transformative marketing technology and operational projects across the department. Current technology scope includes CRM/ERM, email marketing, social media, website, content management, client engagement, automation, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and collaboration tools.
The Director will also focus on delivering assessment metrics, technology solutions, and process changes with a view to streamlining processes and creating efficiencies in how they work. The successful candidate will translate business needs into technical requirements and solutions that will directly shape the organization’s internal processes, team operations, and client experience. This role requires a strong understanding of the change management elements required to operationalize new processes and technologies.
The Director will work closely with the Director, Business Intelligence and Chief Client Relations & Marketing Officer on the department’s technology strategy to ensure alignment with the organization’s business requirements. This will include taking lead on their annual technology audit, assisting in building business cases, and related capital/resource planning.
The Director will form strong, trusted relationships with management, in addition to stakeholders across departments and teams, including working very closely with the IT and Innovation departments on general technology strategy and project planning and scoping.
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, savvy technologist, and a results-oriented leader with a passion for operational excellence. They will have expert knowledge in at least one of the following areas: CRM/ERM, digital marketing, AI/automation, and/or operations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead marketing technology and operational projects from start to finish, including:
- Develop a project plan with budget, resources, and timeline
- Translate business needs into technical requirements
- Create procurement artefacts and manage the RFP process
- Evaluate vendor/technology solutions (alongside with advisory group)
- End-to-end implementation against scope, budget, and timeline (in some cases, alongside IT and subject matter experts)
- Create presentations and communications to stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including:
- Presentations to leadership illustrating the relevant business case/project status/technical changes required
- Communicating technical information effectively to non-technical audiences
- Lead the department’s technology strategy and roadmap, including:
- Undertake the department’s annual technology audit and evaluation
- Update recommendations to reflect business needs and market trends
- Develop business cases for investment
- Contribute to the annual capital budget process
- Assess department’s technical and operational processes, and develop a framework to improve operational efficiency by streamlining processes, leveraging automation, and applying artificial intelligence solutions, including:
- Evaluate their existing workplace collaboration app to determine longevity of the solution
- Evaluate the organization’s existing processes for repeat operations for example, evaluating their annual holiday gifting campaign, assessing vendors and platforms for marketing collateral, and evaluating their webinar processes
- Undertake a review of their existing processes by meeting with each marketing team member to understand their use of technology and deliverables
- Lead the vision for marketing analytics, including:
- Analyze metrics that drive decision making
- Work with department leadership to define the measurement framework, including KPIs and metrics that provide actionable insights to the department’s leadership team
- Ensure that meaningful data and insights pass seamlessly between technologies and people for systematized data analysis and reporting
- Lead the department’s technology vendor relations and operations budgets, including:
- Relationship management and contract negotiations
- Contribute to the department’s operating budget
- Review vendor invoices and ensure they are accurate
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills
- Strong business acumen and technologically savvy
- Proven ability to lead change, gain end-user participation and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to lead and manage multiple technology projects
- Strong understanding of marketing technology and its ability to transform the business
- Ability to multi-task and scale quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail with the ability to analyze and solve complex problems and simplify the technical for non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent team player, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Experience in vendor management and contract negotiations
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in business, marketing, technology, or related discipline
- Minimum of 10 years of experience implementing and deploying marketing technology
- Minimum of 10 years of marketing experience in professional services or B2B
- Experience implementing, owning, and managing marketing efficiency tools and processes including project management, workplace collaboration, and digital asset management
- Certification in change management, organizational design, or process improvement management is an asset
