Outside Sales Representative – Building Products
A well established international manufacturer of premium building products is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to manage and grow a territory across British Columbia. This organization is a recognized leader in its category and works closely with architects, builders, contractors and specialty dealers across residential and commercial construction markets.
This role is ideal for a driven sales professional who enjoys developing new business, building long term relationships and working directly with construction industry professionals.
The Opportunity
The Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for managing an established territory while identifying new opportunities with builders, contractors, architects and distribution partners. This is a highly autonomous role where you will manage your schedule, build relationships in the market and grow revenue within your territory.
A typical week includes four days meeting customers in the field and one day working from home for planning and administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with builders, architects, roofing contractors and construction professionals
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across the territory
- Manage and grow relationships with existing dealers and distribution partners
- Conduct product presentations, training sessions and small group seminars
- Assess customer needs and recommend appropriate product solutions
- Provide installation guidance and support when required
- Maintain activity and pipeline reporting through CRM tools
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows and customer events
- Manage your territory strategically to achieve sales targets
Qualifications
- Previous outside sales experience in building materials, construction products, distribution or a related industry
- Strong relationship building and consultative sales skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, builders and design professionals
- Self motivated with excellent time management and territory planning skills
- Comfortable working independently in a field based role
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to occasionally lift product materials and climb ladders when required
