Counter Sales Representative
Our client is seeking a motivated and customer focused Counter Sales Representative to support walk in customers at a busy distribution counter. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with customers, learning products, and being part of a collaborative, fast paced team environment.
The Counter Sales Representative plays a key role in delivering an excellent customer experience by assisting with product selection, order processing, merchandising, and inventory support, while also working closely with inside and outside sales teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide front line sales and service support to walk in customers at the counter
• Assist customers with product questions, recommendations, and order entry
• Pick, pack, and enter counter sales orders accurately
• Drive sales growth through effective counter merchandising, product promotion, and customer engagement
• Generate leads and opportunities for the Outside Sales team through daily customer interactions
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well merchandised counter area
• Monitor inventory levels and notify purchasing when stock is low
• Follow up on backorders with vendors and communicate accurate delivery timelines to customers
• Process returns and warranty claims in accordance with company procedures
• Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently
• Support inside and outside sales teams as needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned by branch leadership
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required; post secondary education considered an asset
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service or counter sales
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to build relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams
• Comfortable learning and using order processing and inventory software
• Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment
• Solid math skills and strong attention to detail
• Willingness to learn and safely operate material handling equipment
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and integrity
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Experience
• Exposure to plumbing, HVAC, or building products
• Ability to use online tools to research products and problem solve for customers
• Experience with ERP systems and standard office software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
Compensation
• Salary range: $47,000 to $50,000 plus bonus
