Summit Search Group has been retained by our client to recruit their next Estimating/Procurement Manager. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full tendering and bidding process from start to finish.
- Develop and manage purchasing strategies that balance cost, quality, and service.
- Partner with suppliers and manufacturers to source construction materials, secure competitive pricing, and ensure reliable delivery schedules.
- Support project bids and pre-construction efforts by providing cost data, product alternatives, and value-driven options.
- Track supplier performance and market trends to anticipate risks and recommend improvements.
- Coordinate with project teams to align material procurement with timelines and budget requirements.
- Monitor inventory, optimize order consolidation, and reduce waste through recovery and redistribution initiatives.
- Prepare reports on procurement activity, cost savings, and supplier performance to support decision-making.
- Act as the main point of contact for procurement-related issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Prepare detailed proposals including take-offs, spec reviews, supplier pricing, and bid closing.
- Follow up on bids and negotiate with general contractors.
- Identify new customers, market segments, and products to support business growth.
- Provide strategic insights to senior leadership on trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Support occasional project coordination tasks, depending on interest and capacity.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in procurement or a related role focused on sourcing and negotiating materials.
- Experience in construction estimating, ideally with building envelope systems.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong negotiation skills with proven ability to manage contracts and agreements.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in bid preparation.
- Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and desire to grow with the company.
- Knowledge of construction materials and industry supply chains considered an asset.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and solutions-oriented.
