Quality Assurance Manager
Shediac, New Brunswick
On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Quality Assurance Manager in Shediac, New Brunswick. The Quality Assurance Manager will oversee all aspects of quality control, food safety, and regulatory compliance. This is a crucial role in ensuring the safety, quality, and sustainability of products, and requiring someone who can act quickly and decisively to ensure the highest standards are met across all operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the food processing industry, and a proven ability to lead quality teams in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, mentor and train the Quality Control (QC) team, ensuring effective operation, continuous development, and training in food safety and quality assurance best practices.
- Ensure compliance with strict food safety protocols across all production areas. Oversee sanitation processes, pest control, and temperature monitoring to meet both regulatory standards and internal safety guidelines.
- Oversee health certifications with CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency)
- Conduct regular risk assessments, implement robust recall procedures. Manage the traceability program for products from raw material to final product.
- Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs across all operational processes, ensuring that quality standards are consistently met and regulatory compliance is maintained.
- Establish process controls to monitor and ensure quality standards throughout the production process. Regularly inspect products for compliance with internal and external quality expectations.
- Lead and manage both internal and external regulatory audits, as well as supplier and vendor audits ensure they meet required quality standards
- Manage and investigate customer complaints related to product quality and safety, implementing corrective. Take preventive actions to ensure ongoing product excellence.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and sustainability practices within the QC team, using customer feedback, audit findings, and performance metrics to drive improvements in quality control processes.
- Track and report on sustainability metrics, such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, and eco-friendly packaging, and ensure alignment with company goals for environmental responsibility.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Sales teams to ensure accurate product labeling, including ingredient listings, nutritional information, and compliance with food safety regulations.
- Manage and ensure that all client product specifications are met and documented. Work closely with external suppliers and vendors to ensure compliance with client requirements and regulatory standards. Prepare and ensure SLS spec sheets.
The Ideal Candidate Brings:
- A degree in Food Science, Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field. Equivalent experience in the food processing industry will be considered.
- 5 or more years of experience in Quality Assurance within the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and standards, including HACCP, GMP, SQF, MSC, and CFIA.
- Experience with maintaining high standards throughout the supply chain, including supplier quality assurance, incoming product inspections, and risk assessment and recall programs.
- Proven leadership experience, strong organizational and time management skills.
