We are looking for a Project Manager for our client, Western Canada’s premier design-build firm. PROJECT MANAGER
The Project Manager plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the construction lifecycle of industrial design-build workspace improvement projects. This position is responsible for managing projects from scheduling, permitting, trade coordination, and construction execution to project completion, ensuring seamless delivery and adherence to project goals.
The Project Manager works closely with clients, leadership, and key teams—including sales, pre-construction, consultant and specialty equipment and trade coordination, construction, and finance—to ensure successful project delivery. They provide mentorship to Design-Build Project Coordinators, guiding them through structured training and professional development.
This role requires a deep understanding of industrial construction, design-build methodology, financial management, and client communication. The Project Manager is accountable for ensuring projects meet quality, timeline, and budget expectations while maintaining a superior client experience.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Leadership & Execution
• Oversee multiple industrial design-build projects, ensuring seamless execution from concept to completion.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and financial controls to ensure successful project delivery.
• Lead project planning, permitting, tendering, trade coordination, and construction execution phases.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, proactively resolving challenges to maintain progress.
Client Experience & Communication
• Serve as the primary client contact, ensuring exceptional service and transparent communication.
• Conduct project meetings, status updates, and reporting, maintaining alignment with client goals.
• Manage client expectations, addressing concerns, and providing solutions to ensure a smooth project experience.
Financial & Budget Management
• Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial accountability.
• Review and approve change orders, progress billings, and cost reports, ensuring financial accuracy.
• Negotiate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to optimize cost efficiency.
Team & Trade Coordination
• Collaborate with Project Coordinators, Site Supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.
• Lead trade management, ensuring all subcontractors meet project specifications and timelines.
• Monitor site progress, problem-solving construction challenges in real-time.
Mentorship & Leadership Development
• Provide mentorship and training to Design-Build Project Coordinators, supporting their career progression.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture focused on continuous improvement.
• Support leadership in strategic planning, operational efficiency, and business development initiatives.
Sales & Business Development Support
• Work alongside the business development team to support early-stage project intake, budgeting, and feasibility analysis.
• Assist in preparing project proposals, presentations, and client deliverables to secure new business.
• Leverage industry expertise to provide insights on design-build solutions, project planning, and execution strategies.
Construction Oversight & Quality Control
• Oversee site logistics, ensuring smooth execution of material deliveries, trade scheduling, and workflow coordination.
• Monitor quality control, ensuring projects meet high standards and client expectations.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and company policies throughout all phases of the project.
General Administrative & Reporting Responsibilities
• Maintain detailed project records, contracts, permits, RFIs, and financial reports.
• Provide leadership with project updates, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations.
• Continuously improve processes, workflows, and project execution strategies for enhanced efficiency.
