The Organization:
Pitura Seeds is Western Canada’s largest family-owned pedigreed seed processing facility. With a rich 100-year history spanning three generations, the company is proud to grow and contract tens of thousands of acres of top-quality pulses, cereals, and oilseeds on a yearly basis. Located only 25-minutes south of Winnipeg, they are considered one of Manitoba’s fastest growing companies. Reporting to the Operations Manager, we seek to hire an experienced Maintenance Technician to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on seed cleaning, seed treating, and related equipment.
- Conduct inspections to identify and address potential equipment issues before they lead to downtime.
- Conduct regular maintenance and servicing of small and large farm machinery, including conveyors, augers, and forklifts.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and parts inventory.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure high-quality and cost-effective parts procurement.
- Train and mentor team members on proper equipment usage and maintenance best practices.
- Source and manage parts inventory to ensure timely repairs and maintenance.
- Implement and oversee a preventative maintenance program for all equipment.
- Provide operational support to Production and Logistics teams as needed.
- Perform tasks safely at elevated heights, following all safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with mechanical systems, demonstrating advanced troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Proficiency in metal fabrication and welding techniques; formal certification or training is a strong asset.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical motors, (VFDs), and (PLCs).
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license, with a clean driving record preferred.
