About Our Client:
Our client is a highly reputable organization in the financial services industry.
Position Scope:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Total Rewards & Analytics, the Senior Compensation Specialist is a key contributor to the People Strategy team and a strategic partner to the business. Their primary focus includes leading the compensation program which involves market research, benchmarking, analytical work, and modelling of the annual salary review process. Critical in helping the organization deliver on its strategic plan, the ideal candidate will possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, an ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally, a critical eye for details and will bring a deep understanding of compensation principles and best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the compensation subject matter expert (SME) for the People Strategy team
- Manage and execute the annual compensation and market review process
- Act as a trusted partner through compensation discussions and presentation with People Leaders throughout the organization
- Work with the Talent Acquisition Team to provide salary recommendations for new hires, considering role expectations and the development of prospective hires
- Monitor trends in the external market to provide recommendations on best practices to keep the organization’s compensation program, structure and philosophy competitive
- Participate in external compensation benchmarking with various third-party consultants
- Help develop and provide administrative support to an internal Job Evaluation and Compensation Committee
- Participate in job evaluations, including ensuring there is no duplication of responsibilities throughout the organization, and working with the job evaluation committee and hiring leaders to finalize pay grades for net new roles
- Ensure job descriptions and job titles throughout the organization are kept up to date
- Provide modeling and analytics on compensation initiatives
- Maintain and update compensation and job evaluation tools and documents
- Develop compensation communications, presentations, and materials to facilitate employee and People Leader knowledge and understanding
- Assist with pay equity analysis and communication of the results of the analysis
- Stay current with labor laws and regulations to ensure all compensation programs are compliant, providing recommendations for adjustments as needed
- Prepare and analyze HR reports, metrics, and analytics, and provide insights and recommendations to inform decision making in compensation
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends in global compensation & benefits programs
- Keep abreast of industry knowledge and trends by participating in conferences and educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional organizations
- Perform other compensation and total rewards work as required
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of HR experience managing compensation programs, policies, and processes
- Solid understanding of Canadian compensation principles
- College or University education in Human Resources or related discipline
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designations are considered an asset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and strong attention to details
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and resolve complex issues
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization and manage sensitive and confidential matters with tact and professionalism
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to translate data into meaningful insights and opportunities
- Strong business acumen
- Strong Excel skills (formulas, macros, pivot tables, charts) and other MS office software
