Technical Sales Representative-Valves

Our client is a well-established Canadian valve & industrial products supplier serving the Oil and Gas, Refining, Power, Petrochemical, Pipeline/Midstream and other industrial marketplaces.

We are currently searching for a Territory Sales Representative for engineered valves, control valves and related industrial products. Territory coverage will include: Oil & Gas company head offices, EPC’s, industrial facilities, field offices and fabricators.


The ideal candidate should be experienced and comfortable calling on engineers, maintenance, purchasing and operations personnel. They will plan and execute the ongoing development of existing accounts, in addition to identification and development of new opportunities and new customers within the territory of Calgary/Western Canada with travel up to 30% at times. Ideally, candidates will have industry contacts at a successful track record in selling valves, control valves, PVF, or technical products found in piping systems of industrial facilities. The ability to identify and understand various customer applications and how to position products as the appropriate solution, will be key to your success in this position.


  • Four to six years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hands on experience in the valve, automation or other related industries are needed.
  • Experience calling on EPC’s and end-users in a variety of industries including energy preferred.
  • Positive attitude and take-charge initiative; good listening skills with effective communication skills; ability to present ideas and concepts to customers.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical information, procedures, or governmental regulations; scientific approach to problem solving at the root cause.
  • Write reports and business correspondence; effectively present information and respond to management, customers and vendor requests. Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and custom software.
  • Well organized; ability to multi-task to complete projects and requirements in a timely manner.
  • Desire to learn technical aspect of products
  • Ability to travel – moderate overnight travel (up to 30%) must have the use of a personal vehicle with valid driver’s license.

Remuneration for this position will consists of a base salary of $85-100K commensurate upon experience in addition to an uncapped commission program, vehicle allowance, expenses and full benefit program are included
