Our client, a successful consulting engineering firm in Halifax Nova Scotia is looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager. This is a 2ic Senior Leadership role where you will be responsible for business development, team leadership, strategic planning, and managing the delivery of projects from start to finish. Working with the President, the Senior Engineering Manager will provide leadership to a diverse team of professionals managing a variety of projects. This is an amazing opportunity for a senior leader with tenure and an entrepreneurial mindset. There will be succession opportunity leading to ownership for the incumbent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall delivery and management of projects including sourcing opportunities, overseeing project tasks and managing the team.
  • Enhancing our client service offerings by developing a marketable practice.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and potentials.
  • Developing Lead Generation and Lead Conversation models for clients.
  • Expense management, forecasting resource requirements and resource allocation.
  • Solving technical problems, preparing construction documents, and providing direction for drawing and specification plans and code compliance.
  • Conducting field work and inspecting project sites for design development, ensuring health and safety requirements are met.
  • Conducting market research to identify opportunities to leverage technology for task completion.
  • Internal and external relations including business meetings, supervising, coaching and mentoring team members.

Our Ideal Candidate Brings:

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s in Civil/Heavy Structural/Water Resources Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in civil/heavy structural/water resources engineering consulting.
  • Strong technical skills including experience with MS Office, CAD, 3D Modelling, Hydrologic/Hydraulic modelling tools (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS), and Civil Engineering Tools.
  • Knowledge of Provincial and Federal guidelines related to surface water features, potable water and wastewater, is strongly preferred.
  • Solid business development skills.
  • Strong leadership skills. Experience working in a small business and managing people is preferred.
  • Effective planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to make independent decisions and work autonomously.
