The Position:
Summit Search Group has partnered with a national award-winning and industry-leading Managing General Agent (MGA) to find a new Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter to join their growing team. Our client has locations throughout Canada. They serve a broad range of specialty and niche product insurance markets, offering one of the most comprehensive product lines. They work with a number of the world’s largest insurers to act on their behalf. This opportunity is on their Winnipeg team, and will report into the Vice-President and will work with all offices across Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and apply pricing, terms & conditions to new and renewal business.
- Maintain and grow the existing book of business.
- Establish and strengthen relationships with retail producing brokers by encouraging additional submission inflow.
- Provide high level commentary and market intelligence to the management team.
- Develop broker relationships by attending broker meetings, conventions and functions.
- Participate in discussions with markets and add commentary on specific programs.
- Discuss new product development opportunities.
- Act as a leader in the organization, mentoring junior colleagues in the UW team, including sign off where applicable.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience commercial underwriting experience.
- CAIB, CIP, CRM, FCIP or working towards finalizing a designation is preferred.
- Level 2 – General Insurance license (or the ability to obtain within a certain time frame.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills to complete assignments efficiently and within structured timelines.
