Our client is currently seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Manager, Shop Operations (MSO). This is an ideal opportunity for a self-motivated and independent individual, with experience and knowledge of Electrical/Mechanical rotating equipment in an industrial application to join a growing service provider.
About the role
Oversee, coordinate, prioritize and manage all service work performed in all service departments of the Burnaby repair facility.
Promote Integrity, Safety, Quality, teamwork, open lines of communication and a positive atmosphere for employees.
Demonstrate Strong Leadership and business governance in accordance with our Company’s business objectives.
Provide support to customers and the rest of the Company team as requested.
An effective MSO will manage personnel, assets and the business processes assigned to him/her to deliver/contribute to the following business objectives and performance targets:

Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the General Manager, Finance Manager and Sales Manager, assist in the preparation of the annual budget
- Provides and prioritizes shop requirements for capital expenditures, seeks approval, executes in a timely fashion
- Maintains strong relationship with General Manager and communicates regularly regarding Metrics – shop operation, job scheduling issues, repair/job problems, customer concerns/concessions, employee performance and other matters as deemed appropriate
- Executes his/her duties in accordance with the business priorities as set by the General Manager
- Maintains strong relationships with peers, subordinates and communicates regularly
- Effectively participate in joint work-related efforts between each department
- Perform review of shop financial statements with General Manager
- Perform review of weekly / monthly metrics with General Manager
- Participate in weekly / monthly business operations meetings
Required Education, Training, Experience
- Professional Engineer or Applied Science Certificate is desirable
- Will consider related industry experience, Journeyman Red Seal designation or higher
- Proven track record for business top and bottom-line growth
- Proven track record of personal growth
- Current Knowledge in related disciplines such as safety, quality, leadership skills, technical ability

- Attending seminars, expositions and various schools to stay current on technical information relative to the electrical machinery service industry
