Our client is the global leader in selling, marketing, and distributing food products.

Position Scope:

The goal of this position is to efficiently book and manage all inbound freight controlled by the site through an outside carrier and/or the company’s fleet. In addition, this item must contribute to the income of the company by the profitability of the load of the portfolios that are managed. This role plays a vital role in many aspects of the business. This position is responsible for being a profit center, LEI (Logistics Earned Income), by maximizing the filling and consolidation of loads, is a key contributor to the operational efficiency by the way in which the charges are coordinated and reserved (incoming CPMH, cost of operations per part, use of the fleet / charge returns, etc.). The logistics station also supports the client’s PIP / fill rates by ensuring adequate tracking of loads, pickups and appointment scheduling as well as assistance in the event of anomalies.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the Houston Logistics Planning Group (NITC) all designated pickups at the site using the TMS freight system
  • Communicate applicable transport designations to the NITC planner
  • Analyze new freight possibilities to increase collections controlled on site
  • Convert, configure and implement new freight opportunities
  • Analyze the possibilities of consolidating loads in order to maximize efficiencies and profitability
  • Coordinate and implement the consolidation of charges
  • Responsible for individual and overall load fill percentages on controlled freight
  • Responsible for individual and overall profit dollars on controlled freight
  • Review and follow up with carriers regarding compliance with pickup and delivery windows
  • Develop and maintain solid working relationships with the SocEx merchandising and operational teams
  • Process applicable documentation and manage all aspects of outside carrier claims, including work to close with the appropriate designated departments and individuals of the company
  • Provide coverage and / or assistance, if necessary, for other site logistics
  • Process cross-border documents if necessary
  • Review proposed logistics conversions to determine their viability and profitability
  • Analyze inbound freight with other locations in the region for the possibility of truck sharing to eliminate lost revenue
  • Record carrier and supplier service issues in Sales Force
  • Reporting of surpluses, shortages and damage to the carrier and the Merchandising team within 24 to 48 hours
  • Work with QA, operations and the carrier to mitigate complaints where possible.
  • Monitor the Differential Items and Freight Free Items report and make any necessary adjustments and updates
  • Collaborate with the company’s logistics team to resolve problems and emergencies
  • Work with the operations team to resolve issues with on-line carriers
  • Validate the entry and exit times from detention within 48 hours and enter them in the TMS detention module
  • Provide documentation to the Arrivals Planner to enter receiving appointments for all logistics loads and returns
  • Provide the transport team with a daily list of deliveries so that they can arrange pick-up appointments in advance and route them accordingly
  • Discuss a possible conversion to the return load program with the director of transport
  • Confirm and verify that all pickups have been completed as scheduled and work with the transportation team to resolve outstanding issues
  • Work with reception to balance incoming loads
  • Manage the efficiency and profitability of loads in the Transportation Management System (TMS) using unplanned filters, daily load filters, feedback filters and work-in-progress filters (WIP)
  • Responsible for all key performance indicators related to costs, operations and service for receiving logistics
  • Review the daily activity report
  • Willingness to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of immediately reporting all environmental hazards, incidents and spills to your supervisor
  • Understand that they play an essential role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and be prepared to speak up in the presence of dangers
  • Perform any other assigned task

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of transportation rules and regulation
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office tool suite required – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

Education and Experience:

  • Post-Secondary Education required
  • A college or university degree in a supply chain or logistics related field would be considered an asset
  • 2 years of experience in distribution, logistics, routing or operations
  • Experience in managing workflow focused functions would be considered an asset
  • Experience in the TMS logistics program
  • Experience with AS400 system is an asset
