Facility Planning & Optimization Manager

Our client is a leader in the food and beverage industry.

 

Position Scope:

Responsible for managing multiple Canadian projects in partnership with Regional teams and the US Corporate Facilities Planning & Optimization department. These projects could be, but are not limited to slotting optimization, facility layout/design, rack configuration, automation, fleet & facility maintenance, and transportation distribution systems. Must be able to plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of the specific project they are working on. Must be able to build business cases for Optimization projects using data and supporting analyses. Must also be able to define and manage project scope and schedule.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise for major Supply Chain programs and projects.
  • Developing conceptual layouts to support supply chain initiatives.
  • Develop productive business relationships interfacing with multiple internal and external departments including Finance, Information Technology, Customer Sales, Operations, Transportation, Real Estate, and other 3rd parties.
  • Utilize Problem Solving abilities to identify, define and resolve specific problems of the operational areas in the operating companies.
  • Analyze and evaluate business requirements of distribution operations in areas of capacity optimization, space utilization requirements, slotting of product, determining racking requirements, product flow, and materials handling in both warehouse and delivery.
  • Manage the development and deployment of standardized regional analyst and slotting coordinator training program.
  • Partner effectively with the Corporation’s Global Supply Chain Services centre of excellence.
  • Willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
  • Responsible for compliance with all Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) comprising the organization’s Food Safety Program, specific for the assigned role.
  • Developing Material Flow Diagrams and related analysis.
  • Develop analysis and presentation standards within the Facility Planning team
  • Assist Food Safety Program Manager in ensuring compliance to the organization’s Food Safety Program that leads to compliance with third party certification and customer requirements.
  • Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Facility Planning, Industrial Engineering or equivalent. Masters preferred but not required. Equivalent experience in Supply Chain Planning & Design can be considered as a substitute for education.
  • 5-10 years preferred experience in Facility Planning, Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years required experience in Slotting, product allocation or pick path sequencing.
  • Very Strong Technical Skills – Excel, SQL, VBA.
  • Valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle may be required. Some travel to other locations required (10-25%) based project needs.
  • Comfortable with a broad range of research tools and technologies, analytics and basic financial analyses.
  • Experience with Epic Slots software preferred, but not required. Must have the ability to be trained.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
