Our client is a Canadian manufacturer who is a leading supplier to Canada’s Oil and Gas industry based on their dedication to craftsmanship, hard work, and open communication.
As a result of growth, we are currently in an active search for a draftsperson for their Edmonton office. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, they will be responsible for the preparation of mechanical designs and drawings using AutoCAD and ensuring that design drawings conform to specifications provided.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and prepare mechanical designs and drawings based on the engineering quotes, applicable codes and standards, and customer supplied documents (specifications, sketches, drawings, inspection reports, etc.)
- Maintain the company standards for drafting.
- Creation of burn programs for the plasma table based on approved drawings.
- Utilize and create Excel drafting tools to increase design efficiency.
- Update drawings based on shop/field redlines.
- Perform self checks of drawings to improve drawing accuracy, including cross checking of co-worker’s drawings.
- Work with other departments to utilize material effectively.
- Be creative, adding skill and value to the design team.
- Involved in research and development for department initiatives.
- Interacts with organizational team members and other departments in a professional, solutions-oriented manner.
- Thinks like an owner.
- Knows about the customer and understands how their role directly impacts the customer.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education related to drafting.
- Strong computer skills-specifically AutoCAD 2-D
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe PDF, and Outlook.
- Ability to generate drawings in a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to see objects in 3-dimensions when looking at drawings.
- Time management skills to complete error-free work within the required time frame.
- Interpersonal skills to work within a team, taking direction from senior leadership.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects at a time.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop creative solutions.

Remuneration
